Almost seven years later, the Wests have transformed that real estate into one of the most fascinating, otherworldly, and, yes, strange pieces of domestic architecture on the planet.

Although architecture and interior design have only recently come to the fore as areas of interest for Kanye, he has maintained an abiding interest in the built environment for years.
Although Kanye describes the house as “90 percent Axel,” several other prominent designers lent their talents to the proceedings. Minimalist architect Claudio Silvestrin—who worked on Kanye’s pre-Kim Manhattan loft and continues to collaborate with him on ambitious building projects still under wraps—designed the voluminous master bath.
Vincent Van Duysen helped furnish the living room as well as the children’s bedrooms. And Wirtz International Landscape Architects, under the direction of Peter Wirtz, oversaw the design of the burgeoning, purposely all-green gardens.
