Antonio Martins was the mastermind behind this amazing project in San Francisco. Born in Portugal, throughout his life, he was heavenly influenced by the Portuguese culture, along with the Brazilian, Swiss, and even an Asian background while he lived in Hing Kong and Bangkok. Let us begin the walk-around in this place through the living room. Embellished with 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries’ portraits, there’s a custom sofa upholstered in a Glant linen, a cocktail table is by Restoration Hardware.
In the main bedroom, the bedding is by Restoration Hardware, and the tapestry is the 17th-century from Brussels. The left side table is an industrial potting table, topped with a pair of 17th-century Italian figural candle holders and a silver vase by Luiz Ferreira.
The hallway is embellished with the most traditional and antique from the country where the designer was born – Portugal. The wall tiles are enlarged reproductions of 18th-century Portuguese tiles custom painted by Linda Horning and Katherine Jacobus. The runner is by Stark Carpets, the candlesticks are 18th-century Portuguese, and the lighting is by Kelly Wearstler.

Heavily inspired in Portuguese history and culture, the D. Heritage is a cross between two of Boca do Lobo’s most iconic design pieces, keeping the form of the Dom Manuel cabinet, with the use of the azulejo finish found on the Heritage pieces. Used to tell tales and stories, azulejo tiles became increasingly popular during King Manuel’s reign, representing a landmark in Portuguese architecture.
The Heritage Cabinet is a magnificent journey through Portuguese legacy. Covered in Azulejos, traditional hand-painted tiles, and one of the most representative art forms of Portuguese culture, the architectural cabinet portrays different scenes from the country’s Discoveries era. Centuries of history are gathered in a single final white and blue panel, and each layer is enhanced by vertical mirrors on the lateral surfaces.
The Heritage Dining Table, much like its sibling Heritage Sideboard and Cabinet, is a highly sophisticated piece inspired by Portuguese history through the use of traditional hand-painted azulejo tiles. Its noble design features bold lines, with alternating polished brass, beveled mirror, and azulejo strips and a tempered glass top.
The Heritage Nightstand is influenced by the Azulejo, a landmark in Portuguese culture. Originating from the Arabic word zellige, this traditional hand-painted tile that can be found all over the country, from churches to houses and gardens, and was often used to tell tales of Portuguese history.
Hand-painted-tiles have gained a privileged place in architecture throughout the centuries. Portugal has adopted them like no other country has and in order to honor the Portuguese hand-painted tiles, Boca do Lobo created Heritage Sideboard. This piece presents a different number of layers, where each one tells a different story.
