Disenchanted with its glut of “soulless white-box spec houses,” Nelson discover Olson Kundig works through an architect friend. The Seattle-based AD100 firm known for its kinetic modern designs and captured everything that Kipp Nelson’s wanted for this fabulous Hollywood home. According to the Architectural Digest team, Nelson asked Olson Kundig a beautiful project where “the indoors to flow to the deck, which flows to the pool, and then that flows out to the view”.
Tom Kundig leading interior designer in this project from Olson Kundi studio, was able to capture the modern design flow that Nelson asked for! For this celebrity home design, the renowned architect created a three-story glass, steel, and concrete structure where you couldn’t tell the limit where the inside stops and the outside begins. A sculptural staircase of painted steel links the living areas on the main floor to the master suite above and guest quarters below.)
Upstairs the Olson Kundi design studio has created a unique master bedroom design cozy in scale but open to the views on three sides, as well as an open-concept bathroom design with glass walls so you can enjoy the beautiful L.A. while you are having a nice relaxing bath. Nelson engaged Olson Kundig to oversee the decorating as well, and inside they relied on custom-designed furniture and lighting and large-scale contemporary artwork to seamlessly unite the architecture and the interior design.
