Oscars 2019: Recall The Innovative And Glamorous Stage Design – Besides the incredible red carpet show, the stand out of this year Academy Awards ceremony is no questions asked the unique stage design and its architectural beauty! Find out more in here!

The expectations were high for the 2019 Oscar‘s since it was the first ceremony that didn’t have any guest host… Nevertheless, the Academy Award’s Ceremony turned out to be a huge hit thanks to its luxurious stage design made with Swarovski Crystals and 40 000 real red roses. Since 1932, the Swarovski brand has a long term relationship with the Academy Awards, and with Hollywood movie industry at large.

The innovative structure of the modern stage design was created by the award-winning creative director and designer David Korins (Hamilton, Dear Evan Hansen). This unique architectural design not only represents the Hollywood Glamour but also make a purposeful statement that speaks to the state of the world at large.

“There’s a lot of rectilinear and rigid thinking and there’s a lot of ups and downs, and I wanted to make something that was a distinct statement about inclusion. There’s almost not a [single] straight line onstage and [in] the entire design”, told David Korins to the AD Magazine team.

The modern stage structure featured some exclusive Swarovski crystal installations called the “Crystal Cloud” (1,600-pound cloud-shaped installation ), “Crystal Swag” (54-foot-wide ribbon-like formation ) and “Crystal Presenter Backings” (that were set behind the awards presenters).

The interior designer explained that the main goal was to create an “installation of an incredibly soft, beautiful, sweeping, asymmetrical portal that wraps literally out into the audience, covers the opera boxes, and hugs the audience”.

In addition to the more than 41,000 crystals, Korins also added a softer, warmer element to the stage design through 40,000 real roses. “I really wanted to find something that felt organic and natural and iconic and elegant and roses can deliver such a deep and rich texture”, explained the interior designer.
