“This picture was taken in the Central Atlas Mountains, Morocco,” writes Hielke Gerritse, who submitted this picture to the National Geographic Traveler Photo Contest. “This area is populated by the indigenous Berber inhabitants. The sign on the wall represents the Berber [Amazigh] flag. Tamazight is the local language. The word also stands for free man, noble man.”
