Sunbird photos – Sea of Galilee pictures – “Under the sun”

Photograph by Piotr Pabisiak

A Palestine sunbird (also known as the northern orange-tufted sunbird) seeks nectar on a sunny day near the Sea of Galilee in Israel. “It took just a few seconds to take the picture, and I did it!” writes photographer Piotr Pabisiak on his entry to the Traveler Photo Contest. “This is an amazing bird.”

This photo and caption were submitted to the 2014 National Geographic Traveler Photo Contest. Winners will be announced July 31.
