In this article, you can follow Shanan Campanaro of Eskayel while she transform a normal space into a chic dining room.
You will see that you don’t have to spend a lot of money to redecorate your home. Keep reading and you’ll find out great, simple ideas that Shanan Campanaro used to give more style in her own dining room.
The starting point
This is how the dining room looked before Shanan Campanaro got her hands into the work. It was a normal, actually, very boring dining room It didn’t have color and it didn’t had any vibrant feel to it.
The starting point – a boring dining room
How to decorate a dining room with bold colors – step 1
“The first step involves bringing in a rug, the Akimbo by Eskayel to add a subtle touch of color, and make the hardwood floor seem less vast.”
“Campanaro started the process by taking something she already owned—an impressive collection of books—and organizing them by color. “Organized this way, they act like an intentional part of the design of the room,” she explains.

Colorful art
“Believe it or not, these dreamy photographs are blown-up prints of Instagram photos from Campanaro’s travels. Not only do they add striking hues, they have sentimental value as well: the one in her arms was taken on an island off the coast of Lombok, Indonesia, where she married Nick Chacona, her partner in Eskayel.”

Add a bright light fixture
“Campanaro took a plain hanging lantern and turned it into a watercolor-inspired statement piece by dying it with indigo and turquoise ink.”

Use unexpected texture
“Sometimes it doesn’t take another color to add visual interest—it’s a texture that makes the most of the colors around it, such as the Lucite chair she added to the head of the table. “Lucite adds shine and sleekness, which I think is a great contrast to all of the wood,” she says.”

Introduce textiles
“It doesn’t hurt that Campanaro has her impressive collection to choose from. Here she brought in the Gypsy pouf for additional and unexpected seating. “Our shelving and table in the dining room are fairly uniform in style so having a few different types of seats brings character to the room,” she says.”

Don’t forget flowers
“I like to start with something unusual,” says Campanaro, who created these stunning arrangements. “Then add in a few green options, and then maybe one or two other types of flowers to act as accents.” She also advises grouping a few arrangements to complement each other, as seen here.”

The final result
“The final product: A relaxed yet invigorating dining space with plenty of beautiful places for the eye to rest. Notice the Fabric Wall Hanging and the complementary accessories added to the shelves—beautiful, personal touches that make the room even more welcoming.”
It’s night and day. The difference is obvious. Shanan Campanaro turned a normal and boring place into a chic dining room. The colorful art, the colorful books and the flowers are fantastic touches that give a fresher look into this dining room.
